Count All Her Bones by April Henry

This review has new character names, as well as a few key events weaved into it. So, depending on how you view it ...beware of these minor (major?) **spoilers!**.

I received an ARC of this thanks to a book event near me that provided them at no cost.

This sequel for "Girl, Stolen", occurs months after the first book and deals with Cheyenne preparing to go to court to testify against Roy for his wrongdoings, while Griffin has to deal with his mother's loss and soon funeral.

Though the book provided the same, lovable characters from "Girl, Stolen", new characters were also introduced such as Jaydra, Cheyenne's bodyguard and Dwayne, Roy's half brother. However, the storyline in this book seemed to be rushed due to a chain of events occurring quite rapidly compared to the more continuous thrill in the first. Especially with the announcement of a new baby sister and a self driving car for Cheyenne.

Nonetheless, this book still contained the wonderful qualities that every April Henry book seems to have: great thrill, eloquent writing style, and outstanding research behind even the smallest detail. So, even if it didn't blow me away as much as the first, I believe the end was satisfying and well done.

This book seemed to go a bit smoother than the first simply because the characters and their backgrounds had already been established. I did enjoy the fact that I was so sure of who the killer was, up until it became clear who it was. I would've been interested on knowing more information on the killer but that was a minor detail. Overall, I loved it, & it had a nice amount of everything. Would recommend to thriller lovers ! :D

I highly enjoyed this book! I sadly had many things getting in my way blocking me from reading even a few pages but I pushed through ! I was surprised at how early on in the book I guessed who the killer was, because I tend to be the last to realize it. I loved each characters backgrounds and just their realism. Definitely reading the sequel right away !!
