The White Guard by Mikhail Bulgakov

'The White Guard' is the second book I've read by Mikhail Bulgakov. Previously, I went through 'The Master and Margarita' (definitely a 5 stars book) and this forced me to set very high expectations about this one. 'The White Guard' is pretty different from the latter; it can be classified as a historical fiction book, telling the story of the civil war of Ukraine by which the life of Turbins is heavily affected. What I really enjoyed about this novel is the crazy dynamics of the story, making it one of the appealing and interesting historical fiction books I've ever read. Even though it requires some previous information about the history of Ukraine in 1918, this doesn't decrease the satisfaction and enjoyment of this masterpiece.
