Pretty decent. Some of the characters were more charismatic in the book. Cinna was so hot.

I finished it quite fast, at first it was hard to get into and the constant reminder about her butt was really putting me off the book 💀 …Like, I understand that it’s one of her features but I don’t need to be reminded every few lines. However, after the first few chapters it subsided and I wasn’t bombarded about buttocks 🫥
The plot was decent and I loved hearing about her inner conflict between what her instincts told her and her heart told her.

I can’t believe the rating myself because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Jen and the FBBA series and the spin off … but this book was so draggy 😔
Like, it took me more that a month to finish this book and that’s unusual, (unless it’s course work 🤓). I think it’s because most of it was just the main character waffling about her feelings… and that went on for just a tiny bit too long. So after a while it felt like a chore trying to finish the book. I think a lot of it could’ve been smaller and still achieved its goal, for the overarching story of the FBBA universe, or it could’ve been split into two. Because when it got to the last chapter and that reveal happened, I was more relieved than shocked.
I was glad it was over 😭
Doesn’t mean that I absolutely can’t wait for the next instalment, BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT JEN CAN DO 🤌🫡, it’s just I’m a tiny bit disappointed.
On a better note, I love the detail we got between characters. The deep dive into their relationships was amazing and all those little nuggets of info about how and why certain gods, guards and mortals ended up at Nyktos’ court was nice. 😌👌
overall, I just wish it was cut and chopped for the sake of the readers sanity. HOWEVERRRR, if you enjoy an explosive and overly detailed, repetitive monologue of the protagonists thoughts this is for you ✌️

Slight spoilers 🤭
BEAUTIFUL, JUST BEAUTIFUL 🤩
WOW WHAT A READ!
I couldn’t put this down, their rivalry was so addictive. I love that they got married, cause you don’t see that often in ya books AND IT jUst MelTed Myyy HEarTTT 🫠🫠🫠🤭 it was just so sweet and warm and bubbly and soul binding and fuzzy and cute… I could go on and on and on 🥰 AAAAAAAAaarrhhhhhhggghh
chapter 39 was my favourite 👹
I absolutely loved their rivalry at the beginning, but I don’t think they should’ve marketed it as an “enemies to lovers”, cause it was more: “I like you, but I’m not going to tell you, and I’m just gunna start being really competitive and annoying instead, cause I can’t address my feelings”…. 🙂
I also found it hard to remember which god was a goodie and a baddie, I think TAHTS on me though cause I’m a bit silly like taht 🤪🤪😜
Apart from those things I really really enjoyed it, and the plot was very clever having the two writers become war correspondents, (big brain Ross 😎🧠).
Actually wait…
I have an inkling that they fell for each other cause of trauma bonding and not because of genuine love… like with the stuff that happened to them… both losing a sibling… EH, at times it felt as though they were metaphorically filling the void within each other, because the other reminded them of their sibling 😀🫣😬🤨… LIKE I WAS SIDE EYEING SOMETIMES 😃😀
But yeah great story and can’t wait for the next one 😁

STUNNING 🔥🔥🔥
Wow, what an amazing piece of literature; beautifully written, and really well fleshed out characters 😆😆😆
The story of Troy was brought to life in a really fantastically feminist way 😍😎🔥🔥🔥🤙
I’m so in love with the idea of multiple POVs from the different women. IT WORKED SO SO WELL! and it gave us insight into the lives of these women that we probably wouldn’t get through plain old archeology.
Every chapter was so intriguing and worth while, not a word was wasted 👏👏👏
Jennifer Saint is an absolute genius 😎😎🔥🔥🔥

So... I'd say it was meh if i'm being 100% honest. It wasn't POOP but it wasn't AMAZEBALLS
It was alright at the beginning but then it kinda just got a bit boring,
When I picked this up, I was hoping for a science-eey kinda romance that would have been fun, cheery but also really informative. I dunno... no shade to the author of course but I just wasn't vibing with the book. AAAANnd, the bonus chapter really threw me off, I get that it was from Adams perspective and he's a horny dude or whatever ... but it was just too smutty for me and ruined the level of innocence in the rest of the book
I also feel like the "tall, dark and handsome" brooding man archetype just wasn't hitting in this book.... like I've read so many books with this archetype/stereotype, it's gotten a tiny winy bit boring. or I feel like this book was the tipping point. because I felt like when reading this that that was his only quality... HOwEvErr, these are my humble opinions... so feel free to disagree
