despondent sigh…i was really liking this for the first 4 chapters; the dynamic between rei and claire is silly and fun and it kinda reminded me of twwtadsl (romcom extraordinaire that i love dearly). however, rei becomes way too pushy in the last chapter, and there’s suddenly sooo much fanservice of TEENAGERS. speaking of which, i initially thought the characters were adults attending university, but finding out that they’re 15 makes the first 4 chapters uncomfortable in retrospect considering rei is an adult like….ma’am why are u so obsessed with a 15-year-old…….i’m giving it a generous 1.5 stars bc i was enjoying it until all the problems arose but yikes man

it’s honestly so hard for me to say how i feel about this first volume bc i have no idea where the story’s going and my feelings could shift drastically depending on if the things that bothered me get addressed later on (← endlessly frustrated with the basic concept of a series but keeps reading them anyway jdbfks) i’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt though; these kids seem so earnest, and i can def see the series going in a direction i really like.

a fantastic exploration of grief and desire through an eldritch horror lens. the art is incredibly evocative too. i’m itching to get my hands on vol. 2!!

the art style is so unique and lovely, it’s very soft and i love how sparkles are used throughout, but the story itself is way more harrowing than i expected (and i knew it was intense going in). i do want to read the rest of the series but i’ll probably have to wait until i’m in the right headspace for it.
