On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
4.0
Some parts of this really resonated with me, especially his experiences with his mum and grandma. It makes me want to hold onto my own mum a little longer whenever we hug. Ocean really knows how to tug at your emotions with his words.
Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig

My main takeaway from this book: sleep/rest is key, revolutionary, and anti-consumerist. I personally love how this book seems to be like a collection of notes; a stream of consciousness with some references thrown in. That’s basically how my brain works at times, so it resonates. I enjoy the personal accounts he provides, too - it’s pretty intimate and makes me feel more at ease about my own experiences with mental health.
Talking With Serial Killers: Stalkers by Christopher Berry-Dee

I really wanted to get through this and gave it several chances - the author writes in a very self-aggrandising way, and even teeters on victim-blaming at several times. It’s a shame, because I was looking forward to this
The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold
5.0
So much detail was put into these accounts of the women who didn’t have to die in the way they did. Really harrowing and moving, even without the grim details of how they were found nor of Jack the Ripper himself - this just made it all the sadder.
