Did not understand what was going on 90% of the time but loved it nonetheless.

Referred to Christopher Columbus as a ‘pioneer’, had a blaisé attitude towards global warming (in specific reference towards Bangladesh’s flooding problems due to climate change) and wrote as if Israel had a right to exist.

McNish is an incredibly funny writer. It makes reading about masturbation a lot lighter (and less awkward).

I know this is a beloved book, but it was sooo boring. One of the reviews says “nothing quite like it has ever been published” and that’s bullshit.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
The author doesn’t use full stops or capital letters and I just couldn’t get past that.

Fantastically written, from characters to plot. Although the main character’s dysfunction made it hard to read at times it was definitely worth reading, it is clear that Candice Carty-Williams is an amazing writer.

I loved, loved, loved when Kyazike hit Ted with her purse. So deserved.

I really enjoyed this book! The main character really is thrown into the deep end of her experience with lesbianism.

However, it must be said that I think this book was promoted in the wrong way. Promoted as ‘sexy’, while it does have a lot of sex scenes in it, it is mostly with the main character and the person who abuses her.

I would not read this if abusive relationships are a trigger for you.

It’s great to read this in an Ayrshire accent. My favourite out of the bunch is ‘Civil War’
