This was a fast moving murder mystery disguised as a haunted hotel. We get 2 different POV, one from 80s and from today. Vwey enjoyable and I can't believe this has been on my tbr for years!

This book reminded me a bit of the movie Trick r Treat. Book moved along pretty quickly. Would have rather had more backbstory of the creepy kids and The Cunning Man than the lesbian coming out storyline 🙄

Overall, an enjoyable read. It would be great to read this leading up to Halloween

Way too much rehashing of an event that had just happened, way too long for the story.

I didn't know this was YA when I started it. I.mean it wasnt terrible but it wasn't good either and certainly not good enough to make a movie out of it.

I choose this book based on the description. This book took an unexpected twist for what I anticipated.

You have two separate murder mysteries in different time lines, girls in a creepy boarding school, and a ghost!

This was a very enjoyable read.

This could have been so much better. I still don't understand 1/2 of the introduced storylines.

This is the 2nd part of the trilogy, Father of Lies. Unfortunately this 2nd book got too bogged down with recapping book 1 stories too often and book 2 just never could take off on its on until probably the last 25% of the book.

I doubt I'll read part three. For a horror/possession style of book it had fresh ideas. I just wished the author would have made book 2 more exciting.

This was such a strange book. I'm still not sure why what happened actually happened.

This story is erotten in two different POV. One of the characters,  Miri, I could give 2 shits about. Dull, lifeless, whiny and boring. Yea if my spouse went MIA for 5 months in a deep sea exploration is be freaking out too. But still.

Leah, on the other had was the spouse on the dive. We did not have nearly enough time with her characters and her experience under the sea.

And then the monster reveal. Really?  That's it?  Still not sure what happened to Leah in the aftermath of the dive had anything to do with the monster.

This book was 228 pages long and it took me a week to read. If it wouldn't have been for Leah i would not have finished.
