absolutely loved it, i love mccarthy’s writing style and the fact he was able to make ballard sympathetic was brilliant the biblical metaphors and the overarching themes really solidified my enjoyment of this book the horror aspects of the entire story added to the prose

absolutely loved this novella i think the writing was gorgeous the themes and morals of the story were conveyed brilliantly and although the book was bleak and dark i think steinbeck’s commentary on systemic oppression, greed, paranoia, etc were so well-done

loved this book i liked it even better than a game of thrones i just wish some characters were more fleshed out but that might change through the series other than that absolutely amazing world-building one of the better fantasy books i have read

absolutely loved the book like one of my favorite fantasy books ever i loved most of the characters and fully felt that the plot is fleshed out the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because some of the scenes were a little questionable especially daenerys and drogo

i really wanted to like this book and at the beginning i thought it was going to be 5 stars because i loved the scientific aspects of the book but it started lagging towards the middle i didn’t care about any of the characters and felt they weren’t well-fleshed out

i believe that the story was far too short for me to even feel connected to the characters or the plot in any way

another comfort reread for me. i loved the book but i think the lightning thief had a stronger story, although this novel set up a lot of major plot points for the rest of the series.

i wish the book delved more into zannah’s training and i felt like there wasn’t enough characterization for her i also wished we saw more bane rather than constantly switching to johun’s pov it just felt like a whole bunch of exposition

this book was extremely well-written and i really enjoyed the overall ambiguity of the book, bateman was so unreliable as a narrator and i felt that it added so much to the satirical aspects of the novel. i loved how bateman’s insanity progresses throughout the book, and his slow descent into madness is brilliant, the commentary on capitalism and its effects on society and individuals was so good
