Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
5.0
Probably a 4.5. There were many aspects of the book I could have done without. There were a lot of names introduced in the beginning of the book when explaining the chain of gossip that went around. Kwan made it his mission to be very detailed about every piece of jewelry, article of clothing, hand bag, furniture, etc. and I personally wasn’t interested in any of that. The storyline was great, once I got a little passed the introduction of new family members and family friends I couldn’t put the book down. I want to read more about what happens with Nick’s family, and Astrid and Michael. I want more!

By far my favorite book of the series. The one to provide the most excitement, sadness, happiness, and curiosity throughout the entire book. A must read.
Beartown by Fredrik Backman

I don’t like to know what books are about before reading them. I picked this book up because I love the way Backman writes and the stories he tells. This book took a sharp turn a little over half way in that I wasn’t expecting at all. Once that chapter hit, I couldn’t put the book down. No matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you’ve been through, you will relate to this book one way or another. It’s inspirational, insightful, hilarious, and heartbreaking. I can’t wait to read “Us Against You.”
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

This book made me fall in love with its author. Even in the sadness there’s inspiration. The way he writes is so descriptive. At the same time I’m crying, I’m smiling. At the same time I’m furious, I’m laughing. This book (and every other one of his) are relatable, inspirational, and fulfilling.
Looking for Alaska by John Green

This was an okay book. I’m not sure that I’d pick it up and read it again, but I do love how smart I feel reading Green’s writing! The story dragged on slowly for a while, but ultimately it was interesting and thought provoking. I found this book to be very similar to An Abundance of Katherine’s.

So beautiful. So sad. So inspirational. So heartbreaking. I love this author and the way he writes/explains the world. I will definitely be picking this series up again in the future.
Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

This book is extremely boring and starts off very slow. It jumps around between emails and letters between completely different people. Most letters are just continuous rambling about nothing important to the storyline. It reminds me a lot of Big Little Lies, only that book had at least some interesting aspects and a decent ending.
