Really enjoyed it but it could have been about 60-75 pages shorter. The ending did feel like it was dragging a bit. I know it's YA but there was a point where it started to feel like the romance was the most important thing when there were much bigger things to worry about and that was pretty annoying
This was an experiment for me and surprisingly I didn't hate it. However, I will not be continuing the series. While I mostly enjoyed this first book and allomancy, I find Vin incredibly annoying and I don't care about the romance
I really enjoyed the couple but there were so many things that pissed me off. Mainly Kendall being a bitch for no reason, Makayla's "I don't do relationships" bullshit and constantly denying her feelings for Reggie. Honestly this could have been about 50 pages shorter
I enjoyed this. I think that the author did a good job capturing the nuances of these cases and the ways that victims are often blamed, shamed, and not believed. I like that we were sort of going through two cases at once and I was curious about how they were connected but I predicted that the killer from the older case was the father of the current victim by chapter 26
I will say that I was very annoyed by Hannah constantly following Rachel and leaving her letters rather than just talking to her as if she weren't the one who reached out first. I understand that telling her story was hard but it turned into stalking and harassment after the first few letters and it was excessive
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
4.5
Enjoyed a little more than book one and I'm excited to see how it ends. I knew that the woman with The Enterprise was Ekon's mother so now I'm interested to see how this prophecy plays out
This is just not great. The characters are honestly so awkward and I don't feel the chemistry. I hate that Delilah is convinced she "doesn't deserve kindness" and is blaming herself for her mother's actions regarding her brother. And the Rowan is just weird honestly. He got super possessive over her for literally no reason and in a very weird moment. All of it is just weird. I also feel like McKenna might get in the way just based on the first interaction between her and Delilah event though they already acknowledge that they are not and will not be together.
This got its rating solely based on like the last 50 pages where shit hits the fan. So much of it was kind of boring, all of the love interests were unnecessary and a waste of time but the last little bit almost makes up for it
I enjoyed this however the pacing of the last 10% was dragged out for no reason whatsoever and it was annoying as hell.
I also wish that we had seen the moment where Ben told Olivia that he and Amber were official. I also just don't think that he did enough to make up for poorly handling the situation when Amber tried to address their feelings. There was no follow up or him sharing with her what happened with his ex and I think it would have been useful to the story
