I struggled with the old style and vocabulary, but that doesn't take away how important this book is within the history of queer literature. The afterword is very moving and still relevant in several aspects.

The last third felt like a queer happy retelling of Orpheus, which was a vibe a few days after seeing Hadestown aha. Really enjoyed the characters!
