It was fine. Better than The Maidens, but I mean it was nothing special. It could have been great.

This was a really tender middle grade novel that teaches a lot about the circle of life, nature, a wolf’s lifestyle, and the bond these wolf families have. I really enjoyed the story and time and research that went behind the book.

What a way to start off the new year with! I loved every page of this memoir, and now I have to get my hands on her poetry. Her journey, her story, her hardships, her family, her strength, her courage….all admirable, and so so so worth reading her memoir.
The Kingdom of Sweets by Erika Johansen

I really enjoyed this dark take on The Nutcracker, with its exploration of family ties, dark magic, society, greed. It was such a refreshing read and just what I needed - a little touch of magic, a little touch of a familiar story, and a little bit of unlikeable characters galore. Definitely want to read more from this author!
When I'm Dead by Hannah Morrissey
3.5
I really liked the mystery and the case in this book. I think it was a great introduction to this author’s writing and approach to the genre, so I’m definitely interested in reading more from her!
For me, this wasn’t the perfect mystery novel though, as some parts felt repetitive and it just dragged on a bit too much, and some connections made just didn’t seem that well fleshed out.

Such a beautiful story that I know will stay with me for a while. This book would be great as a book club pick, as there are so many questions that can be explored with the many layers of this story. Such a wonderful debut!

I can appreciate Kate’s thrilling ideas and the characters she creates. This book was great for an easy mystery suspense type read, but it didn’t wow me in the end. I wish there was more of a shocking twist in this book rather than being predictable.

A mesmerizing and wonderful group of short stories that I know I’ll be revisiting often. Such beautiful storytelling and writing.

Three Holidays and a Wedding is the kind of cute, holiday magic filled book to warm your heart and really take you on a journey. I loved the characters and how well thought out they were, it was like I was part of my own big happy family/friend group stuck in unpredictable circumstances.
I will say, it did feel a little long so if you’re expecting and easy breezy romance book, this isn’t it! There’s a whole story here with lots of buildup, so it takes time getting through it, but it’s so worth it, promise!
