i lost interest

some of the elements used in this book amazes me and makes me wonder when written in the 70s did they predict what technology was now. Theres a scene where one of the investigators gives regular updates while following the pepetrator. in the 70s, mobile phones didnt exist that means he was running to a public phone to ring in while not losing sight of whom they were following.
