I was not expecting this one! It's by far her best book and the first that feels original, not fanfic backed.

Elsie still has those traces of same heroine syndrome but she stands out a lot more. I loved her character and I think a lot of people can relate to people pleasing. Jack was great and as Ali heroes tend to be just what Elsie needs. His gesture at the end did slightly irritate me as it seemed mostly to get her back, but I'm willing to overlook it for all the other good relationship stuff. He was so perceptive of Elsie and saw her in such an inescapable way that was everything. Also he was the most blunt and matter of fact hero yet which I really enjoy. Also Twilight!! I have to say those scenes made me giggle kick my feet in a way I did not expect. The romance of it was chefs kiss. Really looking forward to her supernatural book!

Does she write very similar characters? Yes. Do her plots hinge on miscommunication and fear? Yes. Does she do it well? Absolutely. It's always fun to see what field of science she'll showcase next. Simple and enjoyable read.
