This wasn't what I imagined it would be. The lyricism was lost on me and the constant weaving in and out and between her life and gardening and her family never connected for me.
So technically I have no idea what even happened to her family or in this book unfortunately...

woooooooooooooooow
I need to think about this review cos I have no idea what to say
Weird, odd, poetic, emotional, unique, philosophical, transformative
If you’ve read Popisho, this is similar vibes but just so juicy and good
Definitely getting myself a physical copy to highlight all the beautiful passages although the audiobook is wonderfully narrated by the author!
A new favourite 🤩

Great thrilling writing and brilliantly explored themes. however, the last 1/3 of the book was questionable. Suddenly all the problems are solved with a “we were wrong all along?”. New information was revealed to us the same time as it was to the character. This was annoying because, to me, it kind of throws out the whole set up and backstory of the novel up to that part.
Would still recommend as a fun read!

Unfortunately read Dark Matter before this so this just did not hold up in any way
This was much more obviously written as a script or to be adapted to a movie/show sometime in the future
the concept was really interesting but the execution was not well done; some parts in the last 1/3 were SO repetitive it was getting unbearable and suffocating
the characters were not explored in depth so I didn't remember them or feel connected to any except for Barry.
BUT this was sooo much fun

Thanks to netgalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I saw horror, revenge, and female serial killer so naturally I wanted to read this immediately. We dive right into the mess of the main character’s life and it gets messier but still somehow stays relatable. Her fixation on eyes was gross but the description of eating! them! made my stomach turn…
It took me a while to get into 50% of the book but then the other 50% I read in one day lol
So if you’d like a character based, unhinged, delicious?, violent, and fast paced novel then this is the one!
It comes out 25th June so it’d be a great read to get into spooky season đź‘»

Hilarious, insightful, heartbreaking, honest
Wonderfully written characters… all of them
Storyline is obviously tragic but it was done in a very humorous way.
I really enjoyed the characters’ dialogues and discussions.
I can’t wait to get to more of this author’s books!
