Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

It was a pretty good read but I struggled to get through some of it, though there were also other factors external to the book that made me not want to read. A good conclusion to the trilogy and makes me wonder if there will be a sequel series...
The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham

This was a good, easy read. Rate 4/5 as it wasn’t as fast-paced as I hoped but I had already seen the Australian TV adaption so knew what was coming, which does influence my experience. I think it could’ve either been categorised differently to a thriller as well, to change expectations, or created more suspense. But overall it was fairly captivating and readable.
The one thing I didn’t like was how there was so much build up as to who the father was for it to be dismissed so easily at the end. It seemed like a bit of a filler and didn’t add much to the overall storyline. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

What a read! I watched the Netflix series before reading it and I was still engaged and enthralled the whole time.
I knew the twist was coming and it still shocked me. The events were easy to follow without giving too much away and the multiple viewpoints really gave the story a whole other dimension.
Would definitely recommend this book!

Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances by Maureen Johnson, John Green, Lauren Myracle
3.0
A pretty lighthearted read, nothing too deep but some cute Christmasy romances. Some stories were stronger than others.
The first short story by Maureen Johnson was really good, I wanted to keep reading. It was cute with just enough quirkiness to be interesting. I’d rate it 4/5, a fun read.
John Green’s story was okay but focused a lot on cliches and felt a bit overdone, but wasn’t bad and had a cute ending. 3.5/5
Lauren Myracle’s story was last and it was okay, probably the weakest of the three. The main character was quite whiney and annoying and the characters felt quite forced. But I kept reading due to the clear connections between this and the other stories and wanted to know how they really worked out. 2.5/5, okay but nothing special.

Wow, that ending! I just want to keep reading but unfortunately I’ll have to wait for the next instalment.
A lot easier to read and more gripping than the first novel. Kept me wanting more through most of the book, though the focus on unrequited love was a bit much at times.

It was a really easy but compelling read, after the first few chapters I was hooked. But the first few chapters are where it lost a star. I was constantly confused by the world and the terminology. It went a little bit too quickly into all that without enough explanation of what they were so it took me a while to understand who was what and what they were all doing. But once I got used to that part of it all, it got really interesting and I’m excited to read the next ones. It’s also very much a YA novel, and the storyline can be somewhat shallow at times as a result of this, but it’s still an entertaining read and there is a lot of room for growth from these characters in the coming books.

A LOT happened in this book but the vast majority of it intrigued me and kept me wanting more. It faltered a little bit partway through but I also had a lot of personal things going on which may have contributed to me struggling for a couple chapters.
Leigh Bardugo sure knows how to write an ending, though. Now I can’t wait to dive into the next one!
The new characters really make this book. Sturmhond and Nikolai were AMAZING additions and I love them.
Definitely an improvement from the first and will get straight into the third and final instalment!

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare
4.5
Some stories were better than others, but overall I loved how they followed Jem’s adventures through time whilst also providing some insight into what other characters from a range of series were doing.
The last short story definitely set the scene for another series involving Kit, I can tell. Hopefully it’ll be a good one.

I’m a lot more emotional finishing this series than I thought it would be... but then again I was super sad for Nikolai so that was probably it.
It took me a bit to get into this book, the start felt a bit slow for my liking but it really picked up at the end.
The final battle seemed to go quite quickly but, then again, I did speed read through it cause I wanted to know what happened so that may have also been why.
Still needed more Nikolai Lantsov though. He was the best part of the series.
