Sadly got hit with the nastiest slump and couldn't pick this back up for months, thankfully this didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. Albeit a slower one, it was very much packed with developments and the expansion of the in-story world by going out of New York is great. Add to that the two "timelines" of the story and it keeps you interested with every chapter, even the ones from characters you don't particularly like. The parallels of the "timelines" is also a great addition, love to see a group of characters working together in different years and seeing how lots of people can affect things and the dominos falling is always a nice touch. So many things were set up or put into motion in this book.
Regarding the characters, my love for Harte keeps growing but sadly Esta is more of a hard pill to swallow this book, I cannot understand her stubbornness and the fact that we (and Harte) can see things backfiring from a mile away but she refuses to relent annoyed me to no end and she kept that going through the whole book so it was a very frustrating book in this regards, Esta is very frustrating. And my annoyance put a damper on my excitement for her relationship with Harte but hopefully the next one will change that. On the other hand, the addition of new characters is a welcome one. Cela out of the new bunch is great, but the same I cannot say of Ruby (that was another hard pill to swallow, I'm sure her and Esta would do great together).
I'm excited for the next book, very interested in some things and loving this series so far.
