it was cool seeing the slitheen again, and rose was actually an independent being with agency yay!!! didn't really understand the plan, I feel like it was laid out weirdly so that when the big plot was finally revealed it just felt like 'Oh OK this is what's happening now ig'.

Okay I've read it for a second time. Meh. So so!! Close to saying something abt prison abolition but backs out at the last second. Is also weirdly fatphobic.

a collection of thoughts, themes and ideas presented just like the echos of memory. loved the reference to mythological stories contrasted with the historical events that occurred.

shakespeare is best read when surrounded with not-sober friends at midnight. makes just about sense as when u read it in the cold light of day, but it's got the extra benefit of being surrounded by friends being a little silly.

this play is one long prolonged, slowly getting louder 'nooooo!' and honestly that's what true tragedy should be.

So interesting to study this for A Level coursework. Adichie moves from humour to a deep sadness to touching emotional beats like its easy.

Akala is a genius, not just for revealing so many striking truths about the dynamics of race and class in society, but weaving it all through a wider exploration of the world, blending his own life experience and auto-biographical writings with wider sociological and political facts. Please read Natives.

this is the only tolerable use of miscommunication as a writing trope I've read so far. prove me wrong! (u can't... /j).

I wish Austen was as detailed and nuanced in her writing of non-white characters than in her writing of white characters, which does leave a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to this book.
