It took me a bit to ease into this story because I was listening to the audio and I wasn't a fan of the narrator. Once I got passed that I was able to get into this lovely grumpy and sunshine Christmas story. I was also a little scared to like Sully, but thankfully she wore me down and I think the reasoning behind her tough exterior was nicely explained. I was expecting a little more spice from this (I give it a 2.5/5 flames) having read a lot more of Herrera's work, but the story did ultimately need to unfold to show the work the characters were putting into their relationship and personal growth.
This was such a fun read for the holidays. I absolutely love Wynn’s take on romance, it usually hits so well for me. This book having retail work from hell during this season was just a funny cherry on top. The spicy was there for me, and I especially love the communication that this couple took the time to form (even for something they thought was short lived!)—you don’t always find that in romance, let alone a novella.
This story is heavy on close knit family, Christmas, and losing your job around the holidays.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
