After reading this, I've come to realise how significant genre is to how I understand and rate the things I read. It's described as an autobiographical novel, which both terms seem to be diametrically opposed, but perhaps that's my own limited view. I don't know how to rate this, or if rating it is even appropriate at all.

In short: I recommend it, I think people should read it. It's a slippery piece of work jumping from colonialism to polyamory to history to geneology to secrets and the lies we tell ourselves and others.
