Brother by Ania Ahlborn
3.0
I was intrigued from the first chapter, but I think it lost me around the halfway mark because I could already see where it was going/the reveal. There were disturbing elements and a lot of violence on page toward people and animals. The main plot between the brothers was lacking to me, like the reason behind the animosity felt weak. I would've expected more revenge depicted throughout the years, rather than one huge elaborate thing like 10 years later. I thought there would be more exploration into the psychology of the characters, but we did not get there. Which could be the point since the brother and entire family is unwell in many many ways, but the story did not fully work for me.
Would recommend if you're in the mood for a popcorn horror movie feeling story! I think this would make an entertaining movie adaptation.
