When I read this as a child, it was very inspiring to me then and helped me grow perspective about myself and how others perceive me. It offered an early life lesson that has stuck around. 

I don’t remember details so I can’t say whether or not the representation is accurate, this is just how I absorbed it as a youngin :)

When I was a wee lass, my parents found at a yard sale a large box FULL of Goosebumps, Magic Tree House, Babysitters Club Books. I absolutely annihilated that box in the span of one summer vacation. I was most obsessed with Goosebumps, and this The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight was the BEST and SCARIEST one of them all. It might be safe to say it was my first experience of being thrilled by a horror themed book. Ahhh, the reminiscing… 

Also might be the reason why cornfields and mazes of such have always given me the willies. That and Signs. Lol. 

Night of the Living Dummy and Monster Blood were also big favorites.
