This collection of stories is sad. Not depressing or despairing; just sad - with elegance and refinement. It’s steeped in overtones of femininity - maternity, affection, betrayal - as they are experienced by women. The prose was a pleasure to read - the stories are told in elegant, simple sketches, short sentences and with great craft of the written word. Highly recommended.
