Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
4.0
“The rest of the small half-moon beach was covered in a thick layer of broken shells, a jumble of crustacean parts, and crab claws. Shells the best secret-keepers of all.”
4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
I loved this book, I loved Kya and I loved the beautifully descriptive words that Delia Owens used; but I did not love the ending.
Finding out that Kya had actually committed the murder wasn’t the issue. I think that it was heavily hinted at the whole way through the book that Kya found nature to be just that, natural. She observed many time’s the females of various different species do end up killing (and most of the time eating, thank goodness she drew the line at that!) and even recounted that she didn’t blame her own mother for leaving her when she was under so much stress from her father. I makes sense that Kya killed Chase.
However, I did feel like the description of her commuting the crime at the end was quite a let down. The thing I take most issue with was the costumes (the old lady and the man she pretended to be on the bus). Up until this point, everything was so well explained but I have no idea where she got those clothes, and presumably at least one wig, from!
All in all though, I did adore the majority of this book and I hope Delia Owens writes another novel soon!

Super cheesy but easy to read and light hearted which is no more than I expected of this book.
