my 13 year old self would have gushed over this book i can definitely tell.

read this because i cannot sleep.

there are some poems i like, such as "advice to teenage girls with wild ambitions and trembling hearts," "my father sits me down to teach me how to play guitar," and my favorite "on healing."

i have mixed feelings about this book. finished this at 11:55 pm. read this for 2 days. it's a deep exploration about depression, loneliness and grief. i felt my hear heart thumping whilst reading the last chapters.

i think imma let this sit me with me for a while. this is just so fucking sad.

wow just fucking wow.

I am convinced why the husband stitch is nominated for so many awards. If I could borrow anyone's writing style it would be Machado's. Read the first story and now I could not put the book down eversince. One of the best books I probably would be looking back on in the future. Machado has so many great stories to tell. Gladly I purchased this book. Top faves will be Especially Heinous (This made me not put down the book, very thrilling) Inventory (I like the idea of the story, very clever) Difficult at Parties (This one just made me sad)

All of the stories are very well-written and I'm so fucking glad I have read this book. I can't even properly say goodbye to it after finishing it :(
