It has been a long time since I've been to Sevenwaters, and it felt so good to be back!
I read the other books years ago so it's hard for me to compare them. Of course this book does not reach the heights of the original Sevenwaters trilogy (which books ever will?) but I had a lot of fun reading it, I could not put it down!
The end of the boko feels somewhat forgettable than the rest of it but I particularly enjoyed how all the action that happened before this book (and there was a lot of it!) is relevant to this one. So many characters from past Sevenwaters books are mentioned or even join us on this one! It really does feel that it all comes full circle (though I wouldn't mind a few more Sevenwaters books in the future!)
If you're a fan of series, you will enjoy this one. It might not be the best one, but it still has some of that Sevenwaters calibre. While reading it, I remembered how much I enjoy and miss this series as a whole and I am itching to re-read the other books!

An absolutely stunning end.
This was an amazing end to the Sevenwaters saga. It was so good to get to learn more of Maeve, to truly meet her and find out how she has been since we saw her last. It's amazing how the author was able to make these stories not just about the women of Sevenwaters but also deeply about CiarĂ¡n's journey, he didn't over take the story though and I appreciate that.

Like of of the other reviewers who loved the first three sevenwaters books, these last few have really let me down. I appreciated the wrap up of the characters, but was so underwhelmed by the story, character development, and mauve herself. Please, please, please write books like you used to Juliet!!! I really miss the wonderful story telling and not the same character, just with more whining, in every book.

Marillier can release as many of these books as she wants and I will keep lapping them up even if I kind of think they keep getting lamer.

Probably a 3.5 star rating.
And with that, the Sevenwaters series comes to an end. Daughter of the Forest and Son of the Shadows were books that I read in my teens, and some of my favorites, at that. Sorcha and Liadan were both absolutely amazing, wonderfully drawn heroines of their tales, and their romances were captivating, dramatic, dizzying, even.
Out of the subsequent books, Clodagh's story was my favorite, as Cathal is a pretty interesting hero.
And now we've got Maeve, who we haven't seen since Fainne's story in the third book. Maeve, who went to live with Liadan and Bran, who is disfigured and scarred from her brush with fire.
I really enjoyed a lot of this novel. Maeve was a strong lead. And while I anticipated literally every single twist in the novel, it didn't spoil any of the enjoyment.
I did feel like the ending was pretty anticlimactic (especially since we've seen the buildup to the events for the past 3 books), and the very last chapters fairly weak, I did enjoy this journey, and Sevenwaters will always feel like one of my reading homes.
