This is a good story with a funny and witty heroine, a self centered beautiful foe and a "barbarian" from up north in the highlands of Scotland. Duncan finds that he is to be the heir of an English Marquis and has to merry and get down to having heirs of his own. This is an interesting story of how he comes to find his wife. This is a cute story that is a fun read.

When I'm in the need of a comfort read, there are few books I turn to and this is one of them! I love Sabrina and Duncan's relationship, though this book serves more as a launching point for the stories about Ophelia Reid. Both Sabrina and Duncan are characters that you can easily connect with, and for me, identify with, because of the atypical "friends to lovers" romantic twist used. I've usually found that kind of twist in a contemporary romance and not a historical one. It was an unexpected surprise, and one that helped the book to land on my keeper shelf.

I really enjoyed the book although it was a little bit of a challenge for me, as a non native speaker, to read the Scottish dialect

This was so fun! I really liked the main 2 characters, Sabrina and Duncan, I was fully invested in their friends to lovers story. I will say that Duncan's two grandfathers stole the show for me and I loved their scenes together and how much they argued out of love for Duncan.

Duncan MacTavish finds he is the heir to his English grandfather's marquisette and also has an arranged bride. Olivia's a gossipy b*tch and he decides to look around. He becomes friendly with Olivia's friend, Sabrina, who falls in love with him. But he seduces her and then becomes re-engaged to Olivia.
Sabrina is a doormat who should have grown a spine and dumped his arse. He's an oblivious, ill-tempered clod, and Olivia is the worst (I think she's supposed to be redeemed in the next book in the series, but I don't care because she is unreadable). There are a few more interesting minor characters: the English grandfather and the guy who decides to become friends with Duncan (not sure why). Mostly, this book was a huge disappointment.

Didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Seemed perhaps a little more clique that I had anticipated or something. Decent premise and set up though.
