The most I can say about this book is that it was OK. It wasn't remarkable or really great, but it helped me pass time while taking a break from catching up on podcasts. I'm not in love with any of the characters, which is probably why I find the book just OK. Maybe if I was drawn to the characters, I'd be more interested in the series as a whole, but I don't find myself completely in love with any of them and I found my mind drifting a lot while listening. The story just isn't sticking with me and I realized, while listening to this book, I had forgotten a LOT of what happened in the books before. I really want to enjoy this series, but nothing about this series really grabs me and makes me want to stick along for the ride. Even now, that I just finished it, I don't even remember what happened. It was just, eh. It is well written, since I really enjoyed the writing style, but with an eh plot and no characters I'm in love with, I just can't give this book an amazing review.

The Serpent’s Curse is the third book in the Last Magician series. I’ve loved this series since it first came out, but honestly I’ve lost a little interest having to wait so long for the books. This third book was an enjoyable one.
I’m going to be honest. It wasn’t an overly memorable story. But I enjoyed it. Esta and Harte had adventures, both together and apart. Things were incredibly serious, but everyone was alright in the end.
I think I’ll finish this series since the final installment is out later this year, but I don’t think things needed to drag on as long as they have.

Good read. Enjoyed it. Engaged the whole time and left a good taste in the mouth. Keeps you guessing well. Interesting to see how time travel works throughout the series. Especially with this being the 3rd book

This one went on for awhile… but I was like no worries it’s the last in the trilogy. LITTLE DID I KNOW. It didn’t end.

Too many switching POVs and too slow paced for me to continue the series

"But she knew that fear was nothing more than the ghostly pain of a wound that had long since healed." -Lisa Maxwell, The Serpent's Curse

Trigger
If you have read The Last Magician and The Devil's Thief, then you have a good idea of the possible triggers set within the series.

The Writing
The Serpent's Curse continued the historical fantasy theme, which only gets stronger with each book. The story is still told in multiple perspectives and fractured timeline, offering an interesting and intricate reading experience, but is still easy to follow.

The pacing is very much like the previous two books, but more so The Devil's Thief; while there is an overal ARC, The Serpent's Curse is very character driven, a massive game of cat and mouse between multiple characters.

The writing style remained smooth and straight forward. With each new addition to the Last Magician Series, the writing becomes more intriguing. The writing itself isn't dense, but the story is.

The are many aspects, based on real people and events, within this series that could be conversation starters.

Characters
I really enjoyed reading about the characters, their development, relationships and dynamics. The main story of the oppressed versus the oppressors remained strong. A lot of the characters are morally grey.

Dislike(s)
I skipped any potential/obviously leading up to, steamy scenes. It was also really hard reading about a certain character carving into a certain much, much younger character...

YA?
Honestly, The Last Magician read like YA, but as the story has moved along with The Devil's Thief and The Serpent's Curse, I feel the story reads a bit older. I feel like the series would be good for readers that are in-between YA and Adult. There is A LOT covered.

Aesthetics
The covers have remained alluring.

Recommend
I can say I would reread all the books within The Last Magician's Series. I would recommend this book to others for those who like historical fantasy, intrigue, time travel, magical powers, secret societies, and heist stories.

Ending
What was that ending!? Here I was thinking, that I was reading a conclusion to a trilogy, and then found out that it was a series!? HOW DOES THIS STORY END?
Overall, I enjoyed reading The Serpent's Curse, and can't wait to read the next installment, The Shattered City. Like the previous books, the author provided notes for the real people and events that are within the story.

I do wonder as to the size of the next installment, for each book becomes longer... Curious and curiouser.
