Some niggling annoyances with words used incorrectly, but the story pulled me along effectively and I mostly enjoyed the ride. There is a little bit of multi-POV, but the vast majority is from Bailey’s perspective. The cliffhanger and the estimated next book date of May 2025 wasn’t fun, but Bookhalla, right? (If you know, you know. If you don’t, check out Elizabeth Wheatley’s book goblin videos)

End on cliffhanger. Would like to continue but glad there is a break before the next one so I can get back in the mood.

It may just be a pet peeve of mine, but shouldn’t we be over calling other women skanks?? It’s pretty much a staple of RH books to have the guys be these manwhores who every woman wants, but for some reason this rubbed me the wrong way 🤷🏻‍♀️.
I hesitate to judge people for their emotional response to a dramatic revelation, but the way that she quickly switched over to calling her parents not her parents annoyed me a bit.

Recap:
Bailey grew up in the human world, at 21 she found out she was actually supernatural (a curiomancer). Supernaturals are the dominant race and have segregated all humans away into sectors. She was taken to the Academy by her birth parents lawyer (later her chosen mate). She is the last of her species because the others have been persecuted because of their power. Curiomancers have white hair and pink eyes, shes been wearing a glamour at school. She is being trained by Thadius (Thaddy) who I suspect is likely one of her mates, but he currently has a girlfriend. Her fated soul mates have been revield to so far include Luca (demigod) and Hunter (Lycan). Hunter physically assaulted her and I don’t like him. She is friends with Hunters sister. She goes to a gala with her mates and friend where the council reveals to everyone what she is. They sentence her to death.

CH! Book 2 doesn’t come out ‘till may 2025

I absolutely love PNR worlds, and what Kotah has created is no different. I love the FMC, she's got fire and sass, and the world is so cool. The FMC knows about the magical world, well everyone does, since they revealed themselves years prior. So the FMC knows about the magic world but doesn't think she's a part of it. But... is it possible that she is? And if she is, what does that mean for her future?

When she's told a whammy of a truth, she also learns that she's going to be attending an academy. We meet a few different guys when she is introduced to their side of the world, and htey're all different magical species. Idk about you, but when there's different species to one FMC, it makes it that more interesting. It's interesting to see how they all come together, and how their different personalities will mesh.

The FMC is resilient and even though she goes through emotions when certain things arise, she knows that she must push on. We also have a fun friendship in the making, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Also, we start seeing the start of possibly mate bonds, just gotta read and see who it turns out to be.

Can't wait for book two!

Shattered Illusion, book 1 of the series Stonewell Acadamy by Kotah Jean @authorkotahjean. First off, I am a fan of Kotah’s & this book was no different! That cliffhanger! Ugh! Why? 😳🥲 that is a brutal cliffhanger & I can't wait for the next book!

I devoured this book about Bailey, Luka & Axel. Maybe Hudson. Maybe Thaddeus. We’ll see. Such a great book. I loved learning about Bailey coming into her own & how Luka & Axel are falling in love with her. Hudson messed up. Big time. Thaddeus… not sure what's going on there.

I received this #ARCBook early and I am freely leaving my honest review.
