Woah. Nuevo libro favorito.
Totalmente encantada con esta historia, cada uno de los personajes de esta familia es totalmente interesante. Me encanta que la historia dura cien años y que no fue aburrida ni un solo párrafo. Estuve asombrada durante todo el libro.
100% recomendado.

I read this book when I was 10 because my grandmother thought it was a perfectly acceptable choice for my age group. My mother did not agree.
I have very little recollection of the book, other than a few scattered images left over. And I'm probably never going to reread it. All I can tell you is that I enjoyed it at the time, as much as a 10 year old could.

Sidney is a master, an inspiration. This is the sort of story that will never get out of your head. So real, shocking, unpredictable, the characters come alive before you, never felt so invested in a book before. Everything Sidney writes feels this way. You cannot put this book down unless you’re done. Jump right to the next Sidney book once you’re done with this one. They’re all amazing

This was a fast paced entertaining saga. I enjoyed the story. The key characters lacked morals and ethics and those I wanted to root for the most were showcased the least in the story. This book was entertaining and similarly paced as East of Eden by Steinbeck yet I yearned for an attachment to the characters.

So what? Sidney Sheldon's works is one of my guilty pleasures. This one is my favorite of all his books. This is actually the first Sidney Sheldon book I have ever read. If you say page-turner or can't-put-down, this is definitely one.

Read it more than a decade ago when I had just started reading novels and it blew me away. Re-read it now and well, it's simply written, there's cliches, there's stereotypes, there's melodrama and some of the stuff is hilariously bad.
Still, it is one of those books that you just keep on reading... And it's just fun. It's not the best writing, but it's just a fun, light and yet has enough twists and turns to keep you hooked..
One extra star for nostalgia :P

After a slow start where I almost put it down, this soap-opera-y story turned out to be a bit of a page-turner. The protagonists of this story are awful people, manipulative and amoral (but they don’t seem to realize it). The story—-often predictable—-starts in South Africa when a man decides to try his luck in the diamond rush, then follows his daughter, Kate, as she builds and fights for her thriving company, taking us through her life (children & grandchildren), ending where the prologue began — at Kate’s 90th birthday party. I liked the character of Banda, who helped Kate’s father and spent most of his life struggling for freedom of the South African natives. I could have read an entire book just about him, but instead we followed the train-wreck (horrifying, but you can’t look away) of Kate’s family.
