I really liked it!
Caveat: the world this story is set in is a kind of post-apocalyptic fantasy world, and it has regressed into some seriously sexist shit. I was worried that would be a deal-breaker for me, but it ended up being okay - Kaliya was strong enough in herself that she didn't let that bullshit define her or color her perception of herself. But YMMV.
I like the characters. I'm not sure if this is setting up a RH - they are such dominant personalities that I can't envision how that would work - or if it is going to end up being just one of the guys. But it's slow burn ... which I also enjoyed. I liked meeting these characters and getting to dig into them as individuals. And watching them form relationships - they aren't really friends at the start of this book, and in fact the guys barely know each other. So there's a lot of foundation to build, and I am here for it.
On to the next!

I liked how this book was vastly different from other shifter series I've read, and I can honestly say that during the entire book, I had no idea how it was going to end. Sadly, the book gets two stars because it was so drawn out and boring. I found myself skipping paragraphs just to get the plot moving. I opted to read how the other books end instead of committing to a five book, drawn-out series.

WOW! This book was so so much better than I thought it was going to be! I was hooked from page 1! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these characters! Sooo much was set up in this book I’m very excited to keep reading! The audiobook was very well done as well!! The narrators had a wide range of accents for all the characters which was very enjoyable!

Wolf Shunned is the first book within The Alpha Queen Legacy series.
At first, I was really enjoying this and then things got a little complicated. I get that the clan she is in doesn't like people choosing people. It's all about the wolf choosing their mate. Which, yes, I completely get. It's the whole not fooling around until you are mated and if you aren't mated by a certain age, you can't be with that clan anymore. Yeah, I don't like that timeline one bit given to any wolf.
There's the whole asshole within her own clan. Originally a creepy beta, ends up challenging the sweet alpha, and then becomes the new alpha. Ugh, I disliked that guy the entire time and did not like how he wanted to break our girl for enjoyment. Such a weirdo and I don't feel bad about what happened after he challenged her. Good riddance sir!
As for the other potential mates, I'm very excited to see this little journey they go on. I'm hoping that they all come to terms and create the little RH I've been waiting for. I just think it will be well balanced since she seems capable of handling them all while kicking some serious ass. Which, yes, I want to know more about their enemies in the next book.
Actual rating: 3.5 stars

I am a sucker for a well written shifter novel, most of which are Werewolves. This one takes that common and well known stereotype and shifts it a little to the left, introducing wolves as humanity's answer to a rising threat of their distant past, one that was created by wars and devastation.
It's a different approach and I appreciate the view. It has all the hallmarks of a typical Were novel; pack dynamics, shifting, hierarchies, etc - but there it stops. The reasons for the shifters, and what they fight, is as fundamental to this narrative as the fact they are shifters to begin with. Beyond that meta plot lays the gender bending slap to the face of a true Alpha Female, something this society is not prepared to deal with, nor truly feel is possible. Add in an archaic time line to find a mate, the WAY they find mates and an upcoming gathering - and you've got a distinctly unique shifter Reverse Harem.
First Person, Multiple POV
Cliffhanger
Adult - slow burn

19+

If you love shifter romances, like I do, this is a delightful addition to that genre - one that twists things to suit a new origin and mythos. It's fast, a bit harsh and fully entertaining.
