Reflective and insightful account of the work of forensic psychiatrist, character-based narrative that helps demistify and humanise the perpetrators, offering insight into the therapeutic process. Not only does it help bring closer to earth the monsters we hear about in the news but the book also offers more accurate descriptions of the "typical perpetrator" and invites the reader to reflect on their own emotions. Would recommend!

Really enjoyed this. As with a similar book I've just read, I was impressed and taken with the level of humanity throughout this book. I particularly appreciated that Dr Adshead did not just look at the more palatable offences, but some incredibly tough ones too. Whilst there were many parts that were deeply familiar to me, there was also a lot of learning in here, and I am excited to apply it to my own line of work.

Amazing book that gives great insights to the care for major offenders and reminds you that they are still human.
