I'm a huge fan of Jason Gay's articles and usually laugh out loud at some of his one-liners so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately he was clearly going through a tumultuous and emotional point in his life and his writing didn't quite shine like it normally does. It's still a cute little read though.

What an excellent read! I've been so busy that I put it down for like a month and a half, but it is a short and quick read. It made me giggle out loud a few times and tear up a few times. I would recommend this to anyone 25 years old and up, for sure.

Although humorous and entertaining, I found the author rambled a bit too much (& lost my interest).
The most memorable part of the book was the contrast of his journey with testicular cancer against his dad's journey with pancreatic cancer.
It had other good tidbits...I skipped entirely over his take on team sports and his advice for his kids about team sports...and then decided to just abandon it...The Grapes of Wrath is waiting for me at the Library. ;-)
Maybe I'll finish it some other time...maybe not.
I've still got Anna Karenina on my To Read list!

This book is a great blend of entertainment, self-help and inspiration. I found myself laughing out loud at times when reading it, which doesn't happen often!

Really funny. Couldn't hold it together in the breakroom at work. He's got life figured out.

Note: I received a free copy of this book through Goodreads Giveaways.
This was a really fun, quick read. I particularly enjoyed the way the book's format, part memoir/part "list" of do's and don'ts, reflects the random way people/I often think- that made it all the more fun and readable. I loved the way one comment lead to another and then again to another, all these connections made about any given topic or situation- it never felt like rambling, it felt like my own inner voice or like a good chat with a friend. And above all- the message behind the whole book, celebrate the little moments, focus on the little moments, soak them up, resonated with my own personal philosophy. Nothing really new and groundbreaking, but a nice, fresh, and funny voice reminding me life is more about the little moments than anything else. This book will stay on my shelf for that reason alone!

This little volume has been quite a surprise for me. It was in some list I read in December, of goal-affirming books, or something -- something I wouldn't normally read, but several looked kind of interesting, so I put most of the list on hold at the library. From the start, this book spoke to me in a very down-to-earth voice, funny and calm, and not taking itself too seriously. There's a chapter affirming the importance of maintaining friendships, and putting in the effort to do so, that came at a good time for me. There's also a thread running through about his relationship with his dad, and his dad's illness and death, that included some reminders I needed just now. Even the material on parenting, which doesn't pertain to me directly, was amusing and had me nodding my head in agreement from my knowledge of friends' parenting misadventures. All in all, Little Victories has been an enjoyable quick read, with some thoughts I'll carry away with me to my advantage.
