Ich musste dieses Buch als Corona begonnen hat für meinen Deutschunterricht lesen und ich bin sehr froh darüber, denn es war das erste Buch bei dem ich etwas gefühlt habe und es hat mich dazu gebracht mehr zu lesen.

Read in school. In my opinion this book is too drastic for 10 yo children. I do however think it's necessary to educate teenagers about WWII.

Die Geschichte begleitet Alan und Naomi, eine geflüchtete Jüdin, in der Zeit des WW2. 
Naomi muss die Ermordung ihres Vaters mit ansehen und verfällt in psychologisch auffällige Verhaltensweisen. 
Alan ist nach ihrer Flucht in die USA ihr Nachbar. Er versucht sich auf eine liebevolle Art mit ihr anzufreunden und hilft Naomi ihr Trauma zu verarbeiten. 

Diese Geschichte fällt in die Alterskategorie der YA Bücher. Kinder und Jugendliche werden durch die zwei Protagonisten an die Vergangenheit herangeführt. Das Buch nimmt dabei keinen Halt vor graphischen Szenen und schafft dadurch eine direkte Konfrontation mit der Thematik des Antisemitismus zu Zeiten des Holocausts.
