I loved this book. Took me a while to read but it kept me on my toes, when I thought I'd figured everything out it threw a new curveball at you. A beautiful story of love, families and tragedy, with well written flawed characters.

My Sister’s Secret is told through Charity and her daughter Willow. Charity’s chapters are in the past where as Willow’s are in present day.

Willow lost her parents at a young age and had been brought up by her aunt Hope. I couldn’t imagine losing one parent at such a young age, never mind losing both. Even though she has had a relatively happy childhood she does seem to have some resentment to her aunt who seems to be reluctant to talk about Charity and her past.

The majority of chapters to do with Charity are prior to her having Willow and gives us more insight into her relationship and her relationship with two men who are play very big parts in her life.

This is very much a story that needs to be inhaled slowly. Even though there are shocks and surprises in store, it is told at a gentle pace which draws you in and consumes you. I was desperate for answers like Willow but I savoured every minute until the author was ready to share them with us.

My Sister’s Secret is very much one of family secrets and searching for the truth. It held me captive throughout and I really enjoyed this slower paced thriller. Definitely well worth the read.

I love novels written like this. A mystery that flips between past and present that keeps you invested. I found myself googling images of underwater forests. Fascinating.

I received this ARC from Harper Collins AVON in exchange for an honest review. Thank you very much to them for this!

I’ve never read anything by Tracy Buchanan before but I will definitely be checking out more by her in the future. The premise of the story is very interesting- we are introduced to three very different sisters, Faith, Hope and Charity, and we learn of their dreams. Faith, the eldest sister, wants to find and dive to all of the submerged forests of the world and it isn’t long before this dream becomes a shared one. We learn of a tragic accident before we’re fast-forwarded to the present day and introduced to Willow, who we quickly learn is Charity’s daughter. We then go on to discover that Willow lost both of her parents when she was a young girl and we follow her as she tries to discover the secrets that her Aunt Hope has been so keen on keeping from her her entire life.

I found it quite difficult to describe this book in a few words, mostly because there are so many twists and turns, so many secrets and lies, that it really was very hard to speak freely without spoiling the story. I loved the characters very much and connected well with all of them, but I felt particularly sympathetic towards Hope. I also found myself admiring her strong will.

I also loved the switch between years and didn’t find it too complicated to keep up with. The twists and turns along the way were excellent, and while I guessed one of them, the main twist was completely unexpected. This definitely made it all the more interesting for me, as I love guessing and speculating so when I don’t guess the twist I find it all the more impressive. I found myself questioning every character and doubting each and every one of their integrity. I enjoyed both of the time-frames equally, which for me is quite a big thing because I normally find myself more absorbed in one than the other (and ultimately skim through the one I find less interesting) but this definitely wasn’t the case here. I found myself completely and utterly absorbed and couldn’t put the book down once I’d really gotten into it. I loved the language and the beautiful descriptions of all the places visited and the whole concept almost made me want to take up diving and visit some submerged forests myself.

Beautiful, poignant and captivating. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good summer read. At the time of writing, this book is on offer on Amazon Kindle for 99p so if you love a good bargain as well as a good book, buy it now!

4/5.

Kept me enthralled most of the way through. Buchanan lost me towards the end with all the twists and turns. Read weak in the end for me. I however was very surprised about what the Sister's Secret truly was. opps wrong sister!

Really had me hooked from the start.

This is the first book by this author and I was totally hooked on the story from the start. I loved the Twists and turns, thrills and mystery in this story. The characters had a depth that I felt that I knew Willow and Hope Charity and Niall like old friends. Would definitely recommend this to a friend.☺

I received this books from netgalley and the publisher in return for an honest review. Many thanks to them for allowing me to do this.

Well I finished this book and have to be perfectly honest and say it was just ok. I felt no rapport with any of the characters. At times I found it confusing and had to think who was who and were we in the past or present. We know one character has a tan but did we really need to be told this every time the character appeared. The story itself was good but at times found it went off track and wasn't necessary.

It was weird to me how easily the characters ran into each other in various countries.

Big. Big. Twists in this book - and whatever you think it is as you're reading it, you're probably wrong! Tracy Buchanan did a great job keeping me guessing throughout this story that fluctuates between the past and present of one family. So many questions arise during the book, but don't worry, they get answered.

To give any more details a out the story, other than what you can read in the description, risks giving away one or more of the many twists you will encounter while reading My Sister's Secret. But which sister is the one with the secret?
