What was assigned reading for my masters program turned out to be a book that challenged me to reflect on the contributions the library profession made to systemic racism. This was an incredibly thorough history of grassroots movements to challenge segregation of libraries and the lack of a response from the American Library Association. I highly recommend this to anyone in the library field!

As with anything dealing with the Jim Crow era, the details here are horrifying. However, the history is good, especially for people who view libraries as safe spaces for everyone.
