Reyes' POV!! Yes!! Although, this reads as a narrative of what has already happened, which is what gave me some trouble in the beginning, but once we started seeing some emotion I was hooked!

Totally Deserves 5 Stars!

If I could give this novella more stars, I would. Darynda Jones created a mini-masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. I'm not always a fan of novella's as an interlude to the 'real' story. Plus, prequel type stories usually suck. This one did not. Thank Goodness!

This story has heartbreak, abuse, tears, love, sacrifice and so much more. I often wondered if Earl Walker wasn't the Son of Satan instead of Reyes. That man/monster is truly evil. I rarely find myself getting truly angry at villains. I absolutely hate Earl Walker! Darynda did a great job creating this character.

I was totally entranced while listening to Lorelei King narrate the story of Reye's childhood. Her voice is magic and truly brings the story to life for me.

The audio is definitely worth listening to and key to understanding Reyes Alexander Farrow.

Brighter Than the Sun is a short story that reminds us about Reyes childhood, why he calls Charley Dutch, and gives a little more insight into his feeling about it all. You really do need to have read at least the first part of the series for this book to make sense. If you have done that you already know that Reyes childhood was very disturbing and horrible, this story goes into that in a little more detail; some readers may find it very difficult to read because of that. The sexual and other abuses he suffered are not written in great detail but enough that you cannot be mistaken about what was going on and how horrible it is. This story I feel is a little slower than the other books in this series and is mostly to fill in the blanks for the people that wanted more info about Reyes past.

Usually I’m not a fan of “his POV “books but in this case I was intrigued because I love the Charley Davidson series and Darynda Jones writing and books, as well I love Reyes.

I was curious to see what he thinks and how thinks worked out for him before we meet him in the main books.

We know some of his history from the main books, and some of the people he met during his life and journey so far.

That being said, this book is much much darker than any other books. It is interesting as well heartbreaking to read at times.

We also get a much better insight to his relationship with Kim, Earl Walker and some other people.

Overall. If you are a fan of the series and or Reyes, this is a must read novella.

I rate it at 4 ½ ★

Yeh, it's like that

4.5 Audiobook
Reyes, the tortured son of_________, tells his story from birth to when he falls for Charlie. His POV was not what I expected, he had more softness than we see from the other side of the story. I feel for him just a little bit more. I have no complaints other than I finished it in one day. It was too short but great reads always are. I look forward to more from his POV
