Didn't really enjoy the book. I just slogged through it just to finish it. I'm behind on my challenge by 19 books in one of the worst slumps in my life so far (no books for almost 2 months - any that I took up I abandoned). So I decided to slog thru so that it counts :P

Pros:
- The Hero's profession is a photographer. Quite interesting but it wasn't really fleshed out to my liking.

Cons:
Let's talk about the characters first
They didn't sound real; I didn't connect with any of them.
- Mark and Anna were cardboard characters - For example: in the prologue, a baby is delivered in a basket. Beck (the H) is 19 studying in a college. The parents are super-super-super accepting of the baby that the dad is laughing at the thought of diaper changing at the end of chapter. Huh, ok.
SpoilerOr the time when Beck says that they "love" Sheridan so much based on a 6 year old talks that they want to push Beck into a "fake" marriage with her. He's only 25!!!

- English - she looks really perfect and not a real child. Which sometimes is a common enough issue in books with children
- I didnt get any feel of Beck. He came across as closed off. We get his PoV towards the end of the book but that didn't feel true also
- Sheridan is basically Mary Sue. Enough said.

Now, on to the plot - well, there is no plot. The basic premise was decided and that the author seemed to decide how to enforce.
SpoilerEx: There was a huge shadow of Sheridan's "past" whose only purpose was to cause conflict later. The "past" incident was not significant enough so it made the conflict very contrived. Maybe the author wanted a grovel scene so she had this incident so that the characters can separate for a while.

The ex-incident also was eye roll inducing. Throughout the whole book, Sheridan kept saying she had a bad feeling etc etc. Even the ex was a caricature. The ending of that arc, everything was just disappointing.

I started off with high expectations for the book but it feel really flat that I was hard pressed to finish it. It's the author's first book (I think) which shows. I hope her writing improves with her books.

Fake marriage is one of those tropes that always hooks me. I can't say that this book is particularly memorable but I did enjoy it. English was absolutely adorable and I loved that her family allows her to be who she is.

This might be the first novel by Ms. Hargrove that I've read, but it definitely won't be the last. With the perfect mix of sweet & heat, Beck & Sheridan had the kind of relationship that we all hope to have (even if it did start a bit... differently.) Speaking of Beck - wow - where can I find one just like him? There were a few places where I *may* have swooned a bit. And Sheridan- I just can't say enough good things about her. She seemed so "real" that I almost expected her to step out of my kindle, and her interactions with English melted my heart. Now English, I have to say, completely stole the "show". She was absolutely precocious and completely adorable. (Some of the things she comes up with actually had me giggling to the point that Honey kicked me out of bed, lol)

In all, I have to say that this was a very enjoyable read, and I will definitely be checking out other books by this author.

5 For the Love of English Stars

I loved the single dad stories and this single dad totally had me from the get-go. My heart melted at the beginning of this book and it never seemed to solidify.

English was a fantastic character, not a lot of authors can truly capture children well and A.M does this in spades.

I also very much like Sheridan, she was more hesitant but she loves what she does and you can tell that right from the beginning. I loved everything about these characters and the growth they had to go through.

I was enthralled and couldn’t stop listening to this book. I want more like it, I really hope this author will have more Audiobooks because this was amazing and the narration was perfect.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

I have a huge soft spot for great single dads in my books and Beck stole my heart the first scene with his daughter. He was kind of a jerk to her teacher but he was worried about his daughter and it melted my heart. Sheridan was English's teacher and she loved her from the beginning because English was a GREAT characters! I love how honest she was and I have to say I'd love to have a kid like her. Maybe the way Beck & Sheridan ended up together was a little far fetched but it's fiction so I was on board but once they click, man they clicked beautifully! The steamy scenes were hot with lots of dirty talk and they were plenty too! I loved the story line and loved how it ended even more. This is my second book by this author and I will keep watching for more on audio!

The narration was PERFECT!!! I have a serious love for Erin Mallon so I would have bought this book even if I hadn't tried the author before. She narrates about 75% of this book and her male voice is so good that I wouldn't have been upset if she had done the entire book. BUT I did think Jason Clark was fantastic too so the narration gets 6 stars from me too!

I am absolutely under the rainbow with the story.

Beck gets the surprise of his life when he discovers a sweet little baby was left on his parents doorstep, only to discover it was his daughter. Fast forward six years and his sweet, adorable, smart daughter English is starting kindergarten.

Her teacher, Sheridan, is not Beck's biggest fan, but he needs her more than ever. They end up bonding and becoming friends over their shared love of English.

This story was sweet, it was hot, it made me cry, and it made me laugh. English absolutely stole the story. How can you not love such an amazing little girl. All the characters were well written and I found easy to connect with. I really felt every emotion right along with them, especially Sheridan. Beck started off as the biggest ass, but once you got to know more about his story and after he really started connecting with Sheridan it was so hard not to love him.

A fantastic read by A.M. Hargrove with a little drama, some laughs and some sexiness.

I've read A.M. Hargrove books before, but those were co-written with Terri E. Laine. So I was very excited to read a book just by A.M. Hargrove.

I really liked how the story was executed. I haven't read a story like this one before. Not only did I want to read this since I LOVED A Beautiful Sin so much, but because this book has a single dad as the hero. One of my favorite things in books are children as a main character. And the child in THIS BOOK was the absolute cutest and funniest I've ever come across. My favorite scenes in this book is whenever English was around. I never knew what she was going to say. I highly enjoyed all the characters, but English stole the show.

I'm REALLY looking forward to reading more from A.M. Hargrove whether it's a book written by herself or with Terri E. Laine.
