I originally gave the book four stars because I love Jason Reynolds’s writing so much, but after much thought, I had to give it a 3. The book didn’t have enough depth for me. Sunny’s got a lot going on, but it seems rushed.

I love the rhythm in this book, the tock, tick, tick of the sounds that Sunny makes. Great story and as with the other Track books... a frustrating ending!

Listen, I love Guy Lockard’s narration. He kills it, and deserves a Purple Heart for a performance where he truly gave it his all. I just didn’t connect with Sunny’s story as much as Patina and Ghost ((that might be my fault for slamming the audiobook down so quickly, I acknowledge that)).

Sunny is weird. He’s a weirdo. He doesn’t fit in. And he doesn’t wanna fit in. Well, he kinda does wanna fit in. Props to Reynolds for truly writing a  weird little guy in Sunny Lancaster. I think audiobooks are actually the best way to consume these books, at least for me. Lockart adds so much to Sunny’s voice, and really packs an emotional punch.

I loved the notes from Jason & Guy. They both seem like such cool, amicable people. Can’t wait to read Lou.
