Oh the core group in this series Sunny is my favorite so far. So it was interesting to dive into his complicated life. For someone who is one of the most sweetest characters its heartbreaking to read about him being ate up by survivors guilt. For a kid to feel like a murder because his mother died in childbirth is a lot to deal with even if he did have a parent who was trying to be there to support him. However his father is crippled by his own grief.

This story is Sunny finally learning how to live his life for him and how to forgive himself for something that was never his fault.

The story is told in Diary entries and Sunny's voice is so distinct and interesting. The way engages in Meta Cognition as a middle school character something I dont see a lot of.

The way he conveys how he views the world is never dull, and I think that's what makes him so lovable, and such a joy to read!

This is, by far, the standout of the series for me. I feel like the stream of consciousness writing was such a contrast from how we perceived Sunny in the first two books perfectly highlighting how many "mask" their emotions. I loved how Sunny did not hide his emotions from himself, and how he and his father learn to share their emotions with each other. I loved the way grief was woven into each of the characters and how Sunny and his father learned new ways to cope with it while improving their relationship. There was just so much to love about this book.
