Canada lost a national treasure when Richard Wagamese died.
He writes of the land with such reverence that it's like a love letter, his prose is beautiful and the characters he births are true to life and yet otherworldly at the same time.
His writing makes you want to do things - be a better person, commune with nature, work hard and be honest.

Great book. I know why it ended the way it did. It had a lot to live up at as the sequel to “Medicine Walk” it did not disappoint. A shame he did not get to finish it.

Wow. Lyrical and sad and inspiring and full of hope. It's interesting to see how they ended this unfinished last manuscript. A worthy sequel.

The beauty of the words and images created, juxtaposed against the simple and plain yet touching language of the characters made this book a feast for the senses. I feel so moved by the story and by the loss of Richard Wagamese. This is the first of his novels that I have read and I will now be making my way through the rest.

I did not realise when I started this book that this was an unfinished work - despite that I really enjoyed the story and the characters and the theme that ran through.
