This book was really good, I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the beginning claiming that these were real diary entries and then clarifying that it wasn’t at the end was misleading but it did make me read it in an interesting and thoughtful way.

'Witch Child' is a pagan historical fiction book which contains a lot more truth than fiction. The author has clearly submerged herself in research and has come up with a spectacular story to tell of a young girl with ties that point to herself as a witch. In the time period in the book, this certainly isn't taken lightly. As we follow this young girls story, we are more enthralled by the beliefs, actions and thoughts of the people in that time period, all the characters in the book seemingly holding their own secrets. The fear of witchcraft is what drives this story onwards and leaves the innocent, convicted.

I read this to have something easy and nice to read between heavier books, and it fulfilled its purpose completely! It took me a bit to get into it, but by the end it had capture me.

This will probably be what i use as inspiration for the stories i weave for myself as I try to fall asleep for the next few nights!

Its historical, journal entry's about a real person, with a weird sequel but not need to really bother reading  besides the small portion at the end of this.

This book was well written and engaging. However, I am hesitant to give it 4 stars because the very first page gives you the impression that it's real. Even the acknowledgments make you think it's true but if you read the front cover, it's all fiction. I do not like that.

So.. slow to start, but good ending. The way the book was written has me interested in how true the story is (based in real life) and if these mary papers exist. Interesting.

Great tension and a great reader made up for the drab and simplistic characters and narrative.

Not the greatest, but it was alright. The characters felt a little flat to me, and the strangely switching verb tense was really distracting. I probably won't read the sequel.

Written off of the 'Mary Papers'... This story is about a girl who had just moved to the New World. One of her family members is drowned by the puritans because they believe them to be a Witch. Running from the Puritans, she flees. In the end the only piece to tell her story is a quilt in which she hid her diary pages in it's pockets so the puritans could never read them and claim her to be a witch(which she is not).
