The precussor to Dracula, and I would dare say, a more enjoyable book than Mr Stoker's rendition (you cannot out do the doer). I finished it in 2 nights and in the small space where I was not reading it, I was kept thinking about what might happen. It was a very engaging book and the use of language was pleasant and endurable, add that to the enticement of the plot and you have a very well written book. There is not much to say, as it is probably exactly what you think it is - lesbian dracula - but I will say that it is a very beautiful story of enchantment and desire, and how the two are dangerous dancing partners. I recommend it: it is an easy read and one that implores your emotional involvement in a way that a lot of 200+ paged books do not.

Great little story about a vampire and her victim. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, even if it took me a while for its size, and was the perfect pick for an October read.

Unfortunately, having been exposed to both vampires and LGBTQ+ topics in literature beforehand, I couldn't fully appreciate this book for what it monumentally is: a bloody trendsetter.

Nevertheless, a good read. Most likely will read again.

I did not know what to expect with this classic but wow, I’m in love. It’s sapphic and has vampires??? I’m really not complaining there. The tone feels like a magical weird dream turned nightmare. I loved the prose and narration soooo much and I am obsessed with the lack of use of the word vampire in the actual story. I was half way through it before it was even uttered. It creates this really great dramatic irony, where we (the reader) know it’s a story about vampires, but the narrator is just enthralled by this beautiful girl, not knowing anything about the superstition of vampires. It was sweet and creepy at the same time. I LOVE IT
