It's hard to choose a favourite from this series, but this book might come close (well, along with Anne of Green Gables and Anne of the Island! - Actually, every time I read the series I have a different favourite. Last time it was Rilla of Ingleside and this time around it is currently Anne of Avonlea. So, basically, I just love all these books So. Much!). I adore this chapter in Anne's life - it's wonderful to see her and Gilbert start their life as a married couple, especially as we saw so little of Gilbert in the last book. These two are quite probably my OTP and I love the fact that they retain their unique individualness even as they forge their new identity as a couple.

The new friends made in this book are also delightful - Leslie Moore, Miss Cornelia, Susan and of course Captain Jim. L.M. Montgomery's talent for descriptive writing shines beautifully in this book. All the moments of the residents of the little house are felt so poignantly - both the joy and the sorrow. And Four Winds is described so vividly that one really feels as if one was right there with Anne.

This books continues to follow the "new" structure of the series where Anne continues to grow up and becomes a vessel for the reader to get to know this small town. Anne gets married, she enters a new chapter and new friendships. Some of the plots get a little convoluted but in the end, loves always wins. This universe continues to be wholesome and Anne continues to be kind. I loved her being part of a new community

This book was so sweet, I loved seeing Anne and Gilbert married, and the cast of characters was much smaller and all interesting and charming. Definitely my second favorite of the series so far!

My thoughts on this book are pretty much the same as Windy Poplars. I really liked the story, but it just wasn't the same as the early books. I think these later stories could have been about a different character, instead of dragging Anne's character out for so long.
