I’m confident that Stacey Abrams does more in a day than I do all year. When does she have the time to write a high quality legal/political thriller while protecting voting rights and trying to save democracy?

THE Stacey Abrams wrote a book? Sign me up!
That book is about corruption in politics and the law? Just take all my money.
Many portions I found this still relevant to today, unfortunately, and how much of this written BEFORE 2020 was also relevant then and now. This had a great level of complexity in it too, which I appreciated, but also caught me off guard. It also caused it to feel dense and had to follow and remember at times.
Overall, I mostly enjoyed it, but don't think I will continue on with the series because Avery wasn't a character that gripped me.

I had high hopes for this book because I love Stacey Abrams. The story is fast paced, and her legal and political knowledge is obviously strong...but she is no Tana French. The plot, to me, was overly complicated and the character development could have been stronger.

A good puzzle scavenger hunt kind of read more than a courtroom drama

Heavy plot at the detriment to character development
Smartly written book with interesting riddles. Craved character and relationships though. Switched POV from paragraph to paragraph which felt lazy and unearned. Liked the meeting of science and law.
