These books just have me so drawn in. This may only be the second one but I definitely enjoy these more than the movies that were based of them.

In Love’s Enduring Promise we continue on with Clark, Marty and their ever growing family. Here watch watch as they grow, send the young ones to school, and even have a few weddings. I liked getting to see some of the children grow and go do there own thing. Also there’s definitely more character development here than in the movies. As with the first book I thought the writing was well done. There also seemed to be less backwoods talk in this book. I’m really hoping that as this series continues we get to see more of all of the children. I’d really like to see more of the two eldest daughters.

The biggest takeaway from this book was that they really did basically completely change the story when they adapted this into the movie. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good Christian read.

The sequel to Love Comes Softly did not disappoint. It has a very different feel to it — time clips along at a much quicker pace than the first novel (it has to; it covers more years than the first one did months). And while the novel centers around the Davis family, other characters share the limelight, too.

Neither of these things are complaints, nor are they commendations — I guess they’re just observations.

2.5 stars - it was ok.

This book moved too fast for it's story. There were characters that we barely met; then others who grew up in a blink that we met in the first book over only a year or so.

The story touched on bits of tragedy in a couple of the ancillary character stories, but I don't feel that these pieces were explored enough. Marty was sad, then the story moved on.

As much as I adore this book I can't give it 5 stars. It felt way too rushed. I'd have loved to see Missie's story especially as a standalone book building up and having a bit more substance to it than everything working out so quickly right at the end.
