The story of Frankencrayon has been canceled because of a scribble in the pages. As Pencil walks the reader through the events, the crayons try to help and the canceled picture book spirals more out of control: leading to four very important lessons.
A cute meta-concept, but definitely for an older crowd, since younger children might not be able to keep up with everything that's happening in the story.

Picked up because the public library was doing a community read. Cute story with some funny gags. In my k/1 line up for writers workshop. Will help teach edits and making the best of a less than ideal situation.

This book is really cute. I love the aspects of the play and how the story runs around it. Plus, the book teaches narrative techniques to the reader and builds suspense as the mystery unfolds. It also shows that something that may appear scary sometimes just needs a chance. Compelling and entertaining.
For: fans of spooky stories; readers looking for a book with a mystery.
Possible red flags: spooky scenarios.

The costumes and set are all ready. But … wait … the story has been canceled?! Because of a scribble?
I am loving every crayon story I get my hands on. This one is a really cute story – despite the fact that they were canceled! I can totally see the author getting the idea for the story from a library book that crossed a young artist while on loan!
