This was a satisfying end to The Unbinding trilogy. Their quest was fulfilled but it was not easy or how they planned it. It wasnโt even option B of the plan. Or C. Everyone played a part not just the magical ones. They even added two extra people to their group before the end of the book. It is telling that they discounted Vaughn, someone they knew to be bad because she was a woman. She even said, I am going to have this happen no matter what.
So I liked the end of story but I wouldโve liked a more satisfying ending to the love story of the book. All the other couples we know are together and devoted and how they make it work. But with Alan and Jack we see that they are together but we donโt know to the extent or how.

Not a relationship dynamic I'd normally go for, but I think it works bc Jack and Alan were there in previous books. The characters are great and the plot is engaging, and it was satisfying to see all the characters from the previous books finally converge. Everyone gets their own moment to shine and their story wrapped up, such a great finale to the series!

This really felt like an adventure of a book. I had so much fun! Thank u to everyone who really stressed how good this was, u were right.
The final act of this mystery, ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ฏ๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฅ, follows 2 new (familiar to us) main characters - Jack Alston/Lord Hawthron, the overbred sh*t-sucking pr*ck & Alanzo Cesare Rossi/Alan, the bane of someones existence ๐โโ๏ธ.
One of the best parts was easily Jack's character development (especially since AML but also thru out APU)
| "She gave Jack an affectionate look from her position on the floor. Intolerable. Jack was never going to rid himself of any of these people." |
His reluctance and fear of opening himself up but ending not only with someone who gets him, but also a group of people that CHOSE him (and he them).
And Alan - I loved his rage, his conviction and his passion. And even with how the story progressed he always held on to that.
Two headstrong stubborn lovable a**holes!
The romance, phew, really blew me away (not as good as someone else blowing am i right). Enemies to lovers oftentimes feels more like rivals to lovers or given a power imbalance, bullies to lovers but THIS!? Perfect. They had real substantial animosity, not just some external beef or a silly misunderstanding. The dislike FULLED the tension like hell (and made the intimate parts ๐ฅ and the affections absolutly rewarding)
| "Youโve a very good bark, your lordshipโa huge, rough, throbbing barkโโ
โStop that,โ said Jack. His tone surprised even himself: low, commanding.
โโbut I havenโt yet seen you bite.โ
โPerhaps if you asked nicely.โ |

I loved this! One issue I had with the series is kind of the โcivilityโ of the conflict- large parts of the story have some kind of reason for why there isnโt direct conflict, and I didnโt always buy into the logic behind it.
But, overall I loved the setting, the new characters, and the story. I really loved the pacing of this book, and the whole series.
The โromanceโ was really fun, but less R romantic than the other two series. But the spicy scenes were excellent

I read this book with only a faint remembrance of the plot from the first two. A lot of the details escape me. It was a fun ride but I sometimes found the world building a little hard to understand. Somehow, it didnโt feel fully developed, though Iโm not sure I can specify how. Same with characters at times; I was not always sure I liked them or understood their motivations. It was still a fun read, but Iโm not sure it will keep much of a hold on me.

I really liked this finish to the series. Jack and Alan had a really interesting dynamic in the second book, so I was really looking forward to their romance, I think they were my favourite couple of the series. Their dynamic is excellent from start to finish.
I loved seeing all the characters coming together and the little family they've created.
