Wheee... What a blast! I read the second half all in one whirlwind rush.

I read The Art Forger for book club. It's honestly probably something I wouldn't have naturally picked up or in the very least, finished. The first 150 pages were a bit of a snooze fest for me. I liked the flashbacks but was pretty bored with the present day. The story had too many painting details and not enough action to move the story forward. The plot eventually picked up speed and I found myself more engaged. There's not too much substance to the story but it was entertaining enough. I imagine art enthusiasts would enjoy this read even more than I did.

3.5 Stars.
*There were a handful of f-bombs and some brief steamy scenes.*

Love the art details in this story and it's foundation of the unsolved theft of the Gardner museum. It is a wonderfully crafted story about painting and the dark side of the art world. If you love a good story, this book is for you.

This was one of the books that I wanted to read after becoming interested in art crimes from White Collar. It didn't let me down. It's clear there was a lot of research that went into this book, and the end result is incredibly realistic. It's the kind of book that you feel like you've learned a lot about a topic from, even though it is technically fiction. Claire is a good protagonist, flawed but also likeable. The plot isn't too complex but the details make it rich. I liked the way it was structured too, cutting back to the past that tells you more about the character, little by little.

I feel like a book that draws me into the story so quickly and thoroughly despite being on a subject matter that I know and care little about is quite an accomplishment!

This is a good one, though I think it could have used a touch more editing and slightly less length. Claire is an enigma. I’m cheering for her, judging her, annoyed by her, impressed. In sum, she’s like a real person. Aiden rang less true to me, but in all, this is a plot heavy book that still manages deep character development at least from our two mains. The friends, less so. If you’re an art nerd, this is for you.
