I feel like I've been wanting Beth's book since I read the first book in the series. This was amazing and I love how quirky and fun the guys are. They are pirates and mischievous. I do wish she was more open to their career path-- it felt like she was more mercenary and all about getting money in the other books, so seeing behind that was interesting.
Can't wait to read more.

It's a fun, adventurous book and I enjoyed listening to it this time. Beth and her stable of men are always up to something that makes me laugh.

I know it's a lot of people's favorite, but for me it was missing some of the cohesiveness that other books in the series have. Will that keep me from reading or listening to it again? Nope! This book is one that I feel will probably be better the more you go through it.

Space pirates: 4 stars
Romance: 2 stars
Big issues: 1 Star

I've had this in my TBR for a few years now and figured it's about time I finally read it. It was fun. It's like reading about space pirates and the woman who they only marginally seem to be into half the time. Unfortunately, too many of the interactions between the characters happen off the page, so don't read this for the romance, because I wasn't sold on it for all of the characters.

Lowering my rating another star because this was nonchalant about all of the trafficked women in this story. The FMC never spared them a second thought (she in fact argues with one and throws the woman's horrible experiences in her face twice in the conversation), the MMCs never spare them a thought, and the MMCs have a plan to take more women later on.

Holy hell, I have grey hairs now.

This book is FOREVER. I didn’t realize it until about more than 50% but now I’m ripping out my hair waiting for the POINT. At chapter 31 out of 62 not counting the THREE extra chapters as Epilogues for a total of 65- I’m loosing my mind over here people. I have better things to do and the favor I felt for these characters in the beginning is RAPIDLY decreasing by the moment.

Beth starts of about as solid as any FL in her position does. She’s kinda scared, kinda not sure what’s going on, and on her way to quickly finding her sea legs given the circumstances. Normally, after the first couple of chapters this is where readers discover there’s a bright side to her unfathomable situation.

Something to help distinguish herself among the guys, that makes her unique or valuable and has them falling over themselves to woo her. It’s where readers start to hit stride finding out the FL has a really quirky personality or is a wiz at, idk, knives, technology, SOMETHING that brings something to the team as a whole that they didn’t already have before and that she can do uniquely. But no, not in this case.

Beth is about as interesting and flavorful as white bread at this point.

Her character has made no progress from when she was picked up to where she is now 50% of the book later. No. Just. No. And the parts of her character I try to put myself in her shoes for aren’t good enough. She hates violence in any way shape or form. Ok, but she doesn’t reactive negatively enough to warrant the guys changing their behavior. She’s scared her baby will get hurt. Ok, but not scared enough to be insanely overly cautious or feral given the circumstances. She literally slips from one thing to another and never really ekes out a personality of her own in any of the time she finds herself in situations and with other characters. She’s got about as much substance as candy floss.

And I feel bad for the guys.

The brothers sound amazing. (Especially Daddy Qolt *prr* that first POV) I thought Ekan would be the hardest to escape the trap of favoritism and screen time for, turns out, authors still got it bad for the Luck magnet but Qolt can lock me up in the Bridge whenever he wants (lol). Aside from the two brothers, Tiernan is the next best character in line for winner of the “authors love and affection award” for points of lovability and personality. Meanwhile, Prov and Oquilion are just these lovely little prop vases in the corner on set. Pretty, but I’m paying as much attention to them as I am to the curtains.

Spoilers:

Idk, this just wasn’t for me. The moment Qolt lost his memory and stopped being EPIC after finally meeting him for like, 2 seconds after all the build!! I’m tapping out. I can’t. And yeah Ekan’s sorry and feels bad, but clearly not enough the crew doesn’t stop to rob some ships along their way to a good medical place.

Also, Ekan isn’t the first one she sleeps with it’s Tiernan for what seems to be no other reason than she made Ekan steal the s*x android before Tiernan was done, so she watched Ekan use the android in front of her (so weird, she describes not being jelly of an android bc it’s just a c*m sleeve without reflecting a little that maybe she should be worried she could be the same?) and then goes to bed with Tiernan after watching Ekan finish like 2+2=10. What?

Movie Quotes, Space Pirates and “Treasure”

I’m the type of reader that if a book moves me enough, I’ll buy it after I read it. So yeah, this one is permanently in my Kindle Collection.
I relate to the FMC, as I too would be coping with the surreal circumstances by quoting movies, referring to my limited (by humans) SciFi/space knowledge, and taking things in stride, but those aren’t the only reasons I relate to her. This is heroine that is a survivor, and I appreciate a more realistic depiction of a survivor’s behavior while interacting with multiple good guys that truly only have good intentions for her.
This is a happy book, with hints of other characters from the rest of the series. I haven’t read all of those, I skipped a few because i don’t like my heart getting too torn up, but after reading this one, I might be brave enough to read the rest of them. I want to tell other readers, don’t get discouraged by some of the other reviews, this book wraps up a lot of good, melts your heart, makes you laugh, and worth the read (to me).

Beth and her FIVE mates

First, off the movie quotes, we're fantastic, and the sarcasm and pranks made this book beyond funny. Beth is a pregnant domestic abuse survivor who is auctioned and ”sold repeatedly.” The Detail in all the alien's different personalities, ticks, and customs gives me insight into their relationship to Beth more genuine and relatable.
